Week of APRIL 24, 2017
Pizza Party on Thursday! No need to pack a lunch (unless your child does not like cheese pizza). On our last day of FSA testing, the 3rd grade teachers will celebrate by giving the students a pizza party. If the weather is nice, we will picnic outside. Please have your child bring a towel to sit on. Water bottles will also be provided.
ARC binders are due NEXT Monday, May 1st.
Tests: Due to the FSA, we will not be having any other tests this week (no vocabulary or spelling words).
The 3rd Grade Math portion of the FSA will take place on April 26th and April 27th.
FSA Races! On Friday, the students will get to use the "FSA Race Tickets" that they earned to enjoy some outdoor fun.
In social studies, we will be doing a unit on economics.
Our focus will be on poetry and learning cursive.
We will begin a class novel study of the book: "The Call of the Wild". During Reading, the students will also begin a research project focusing on an ancient civilization (this project will be done in school).
We will review 3rd grade math skills on Monday and Tuesday, and take the Math FSA on Wednesday and Thursday.
Supply Needed: Over the next month, the students in my class will be working on a special research project. For this project, we will be creating models of ancient civilizations and creating artifacts. Please bring in a container (or bags) of Crayola Model Magic. Preferably white, brown, or tan. Other colors are acceptable EXCEPT the neon colors. Each student will need about 16 oz. of clay. Since we have carpet, we will not be using other types of clay. See the photos above to help you find Crayola Model Magic. Please send in by May 1st. Thank you!
